League Structure The Big Apple Softball League offers a place for players of all skill levels to play softball in a friendly and fun environment. The league is currently divided into six divisions based on skill level and competive attitude. SACHS DIVISION The division for players with little or no prior softball experience, the Sachs Divison (named for the leagues long-time Recruiting Committe head) is also home to players who prefer a looser, more recreational game. Usually, any new teams formed at the start of each season are placed in the Sachs Division. From there they can move up to a higher division as they gain experience. PRIDE DIVISION This division is for players who still prefer a more recreational style of play, but who have gained some experience and improved their skill levels beyond their Sachs Division counterparts. RAINBOW DIVISION This division is for players whose experience and skill level are a step above those prevalent in the Pride Division. FITZPATRICK DIVISION This division consists of teams with more experience in the league, and players who want a more challenging level of competition than generally found in the Rainbow Division. STONEWALL DIVISION A more competitive division than Fitzpatrick, the Stonewall Division is home to more experienced players seeking a higher level of play. In addition to playing within their division, Stonewall teams play crossover games against the Dima Division. DIMA DIVISION This division, named for one of the leagues founders, Chuck Dima, is where players with the highest skill level and most experience play. |
