We wanted to provide you with additional draft information so you can be as prepared as possible!
Saturday, March 31, 2018
10AM-12PM- Women’s+ Division Draft
12PM-2PM- Open Division Draft
We recommend getting to the fields at least 15 minutes before your draft begins to sign-in, stretch and warm-up. Both drafts will begin promptly at their designated time.
Chelsea Park (Located between 9th and 10th Avenue between 28th and 27th Street)
What to Wear/Bring:
Layers–It looks like we’re going to luck out with clear skies and temperatures in the 50s! However, the field can get chilly, so we recommend layering in clothes you can move in.
Athletic footwear–Chelsea Park is a TURF field, if you own cleats you’re welcome to bring them but sneakers are ok!
Softball glove– If you do not have one, we will have some extra for you to use
How to Find Us:
Enter the Park on the 28th Side of Chelsea Park, through the gate about mid-way down the street. There will be a white banner that says “BASL” on it! Come onto the field and find our volunteers carrying clipboards, they’ll get you set up.
What to Expect:
We will have volunteers from the league leading some basic softball drills to determine everyone’s skill level including; fielding of ground balls, fly balls, throwing, and hitting. Remember that we want to make sure you are matched with an appropriate team and that you have fun!
After the drills, while the Managers are drafting our volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions you have. Once drafting is complete players will be introduced to their manager to get more detailed info about the team and schedule.
What Happens After:
THE BAR! Please join us at Walter’s Bar (389 8th Ave, New York, NY 10001).
This is a great way to get to know your manager, other new players and some of our veterans over a PBR and a game of darts!
What Happens if it Rainss
We will post on the facebook event page and on the homepage if there is a rain out.
If you cannot attend this Saturday’s Draft Day, we have another draft day on Saturday, April 7th @ Randall’s Island. Check it out HERE. If you can’t make that either, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
